Staff was great, satisfactory breakfast. 1.5 km to Imperial War Museum. Taste the food in The Red Lion Restaurant, you only need to walk 50 metres to reach it.
Easy to get to and in a superb location, friendly staff and great breakfast. Walking distance to St John's Church.
Location just off the M11 is good for visits to Duxford and Cambridge. I was visiting the Cambridge crematorium and this was convenient.
Food in the Red Lion is vastly overpriced. There is now a £5 car parking charge which is not mentioned, or I missed when booking and I felt is a complete rip off.
The staff were helpful, cheery and efficient. The room was spotless , quiet and the bed very comfortable. This is a perfect place to stay for trips into London or Cambridge. I will be coming again.
My only slight criticism is the lack of a drawer which meant that folded clothes remained in the case. Not a problem for an overnight stay but irritating. Also the lack of a mirror over the desk area meant using the bathroom which has low energy lighting for putting on makeup.
Comfortable and clean room, friendly and helpful staff, lots of parking spaces. The hotel is conveniently located close to a train station two stops away from Cambridge. The site is quiet and there is a pub (Red Lion) opposite the hotel. It's good value for money esp. when compared with hotels in Cambridge.
The pub obstructs the hotel's view. A fridge in the room would be nice for families with young children.
Very clean and tidy. Can work and relax equally. I like the fact that I can go on the train if necessary to Cambridge or London yet can enjoy peace when I return to the hotel.
The breakfast is the only slight down side of the hotel. I compare it to the Park Inn Radisson at Harlow for instance and their breakfast was wonderful. But I stil prefer to be at the holiday inn Duxford.
I used the hotel as a base for attending an Air Show at Duxford Imperial War Museum. It was ideallt located, a short 40 minute walk from the museum. 4 times I visited the museum during my stay. Being right next to the Whittlesford railway station was convenient for travel into Cambridge or London. Being located between a railway station and a major highway, I was pleasantly surprised at the effectiveness of the double glazing. Very little noise when the window was closed. No trouble sleeping.
Not really many facilities on site. Odd location - right next to railway station and main road - in the middle of a tiny village - it was quiet though - but you could feel a bit of vibration from the trains - we were on the other side from the station.
Friendly staff. Great location for the Duxford Air Museum. Excellent food at the Red Lion Pub attached to the hotel. Excellent modern facilities. Stored our luggage for us while we went to the museum.
It was a very pleasant stay, would return.
very handy for friends nearby
Clean and confortable
Room scould be improved greatly by adding two coat hooks. Otherwise limited storag eis a problem for longer stays.
Room is clean and comfortable. Near-by-restrant "Red Lion" is good. Very next to the railroad station. Very low price.
Service in tha bar in the evening was a bit slow.
Duxford Autumn Air Show
In what is a very efficiently run hotel where we always have excellent service, it was a shame to see coffee stains on the skirting board and lipstick on the underside of the disabled wash basin in our room. These were easily removed with wet tissue and should have been noted by cleaning staff.
